I saw him today. He didnt see me.
He was playing in the park,
checkers, or some such, with the old men.
Sitting in the sun in his black and green tartan shirt,
his back to me. I stood awhile, watching, hoping hed notice me.
Time was hed feel me there and turn around, scanning,
wondering what had caught his attention.
Hed have got up from the game and come toward me,
not knowing why till he saw me.
That wide grin!  Those white teeth!
Those blue eyes would light and his step lengthen till he caught me in his arms
and our laughter would float like music in the air.

I saw him today. He didnt see me.
