Strength Of A Mother

Balancing a job in one hand
Children in the other
Following a structureless plan
Is the work of a Mother

Putting smiles on their faces
And food on the table
Tying of shoe laces
Reading bedtime fables

Cleaning a cut, kissing a 'boo boo'
Clothes in a pile and seams to be sewn
Wiping their nose when they get the flu
Much to be done, you still stand strong

Son to practice, daughter to dance
Going from one place to another
Week by week, as if in a trance
These are the jobs of a Mother

Neglecting yourself, your aches and pain
Forever selfless and always kind
A lesser person would go insane
But you delay the time to unwind

Slow it down, I'll take it from here
Lie on the bed and try to relax
Forget your worries and your fear
As I rub oil onto your back

You fascinate me, I must confess
You have my respect and that of others
There is something wondrous you possess
The phenomenal strength of a Mother
