Must I Apologize For Just Being Me?

How many times must I apologize for being so carefree?

For going out on a limb and climbing to the top of the tree.

If you would have taken the time to get to know the mind of Shee,

You would know how to love and how to conquer your insecurity.

How many times must I apologize for just being me?

While you have forgotten the words spoken on bended knee.

Why do you try to change me into someone who is far from me?

Trying to rob the secret person of the heart and take away my sanity.

How many times must apologize for wanting to be free?

You just wanted to control me and tell me how i should be.

What is the value of pretending to wear the perfect personality?

Isnt it much better to bare your soul and be genuine for all to see?

How many times must I apologize for loving a little mystery?

Maybe you should try turning down the lights in order to see.

With all of these questions i am not suggesting how YOU should be,

But what's wrong with having fun and being a little more carefree?

Author's Notes:

we have the most power when we are changing ourselves. we have no power to change or control others and if we try... it takes away from our power and makes us weak and in turn ruins the relationship.

	A man like this will answer,"always" because it keeps you down and him in control. The insecurity you speak of in the first stanza says more than a million verses. I understand. You speak for many. 	Don't ever let anyone change you. It's dangerous and it makes you miserable. And if anyone tries to control you - run the other way. Run as fast as you can. Believe me - I've been there. In fact, I've been there recently... and I'm still running. And one other thing, never apologize for being yourself. If you make a mistake and your sorry about it - fine, it's perfectly all right to apologize for something you've DONE... but never for what you ARE.
