A Lasting Friendship
1963 was the eventful year
that we met,
Like two puppies...
not fully grown yet.
How could we know each other
before our personalities were set?
Yet there was something about our friendship
we could never forget.
1973 was the year
that we finally said good-bye,
Thinking at the time
that you were not "my guy".
Having no clue where our future
would lie,
Yet starting out on the road with Hopes
that were high.
Throughout the years,
Life has been our Teacher.
Guided by God's Word,
could there be a better preacher?
You filled your days with fun...
enjoying life's every feature.
Never giving it a thought,
an unexpected chance to "reach her".
I am so glad you were not afraid of the one
you would find,
Trusting that I'd grown
both more loving and kind.
One who respects you and the ties that bind,
And appreciates another chance,
a lasting friendship to find.
Author's Notes:
with so many electronic connections now-a-days it is possible to reconnect with ones from our past. I am happy this one found me and we have become forever friends.

Some relationships go dormant but are awakened at a later never knows. This is a feel good poem Linda Jo. *smiles* I like how the story unfolds to a happy present day connection. Enjoyed!

marvelous story-telling and an affirmation that true friends are not always easy to find.  it's great when a long-dormant connection can establish itself once again.

What a lovely expression of a friendship of rare beauty. Many dream of having this kind of relationship, one of life's richest blessings...sounds like soul mates to me. As always, you share your heart in such a sweet way Linda.

"Yet there was something about our friendship

we could never forget."

Great line and so true.  I quite often wonder about the friends I've had in the past and wonder if they every wonder about me.  Couple years to a  fiftieth high school reuion. (2013 Lebanon, New Hampshire)    Hope I live to see it.  I do plan to go.

Reconnections are always interesting.
