a life without flowers
The wrong person in your life
is like
an electrical vampire clamp

They draw energy
only one way
and the one way, is away from you

They draw it, without returning it
Itself, an act
of greediness
And greedy people, as you know
are really
truly broken people

Not broken, like someone defeated
or a bird with a broken wing
but broken, with a defect

and the defect is, they know not
how to love
and one cannot bare love, in a broken vessel

Or you will spend a lifetime
trying to mend it
wasting the better part of your soul
trying to repair a vase
that will never hold water

Without water, any flowers
you put there
will die

And your life will be
a life
without flowers

I can't imagine a life without flower. Flowers are jewelries of Nature, glittering like a gold and perfuming our universe with their magi.

Thank you joe, you touch our hearts

Jim,
Reading this it sure brings back some times in my scattered life ...When our life is just a cracked vase...
always trying to fix the leaks in the vase of life..

I love flowers and your right they must have water to survive...
I so enjoy your story poems ..I await another soon..

some may think this is an interesting way of looking at things but if one is unfortunate enough to have lived  this he knows your words are true and inescapable.  If he had only known 25yrs ago before giving up the best years of his life" trying to repair a vase that will never hold water."  Perhaps your words spoken with such wisdom will help someone realize the sum total of their love is never enough to melt the heart of the one "who knows not how to love". Thank you for putting this into words.

Great comparisons here..the cracked vase and all.  In particular, that line about spending your entire life trying to repair a broken vase, that will never hold water..clever  concept.
