What Ever!
Someday will come when you will cease
You tried to live at ease with peace
And leave a mark, furrow or crease
                what ever
Your triumphs and failures will not mean much
Beauty, money, brilliants, color, and such
And no more loved ones to hold or touch
                what ever
All your yearning will flee far away
But what you taught may be here to stay
Perhaps even help someone someday
                what ever
No more surprises, smiles, or cheer
Resentments, grudges, pain or fear
You will be gone, no longer here
It's not what you got, but what you gave
Or what you brought or what you save
When you enter that final unsung wave
                 what ever
Ambitions, hope, health, and desire
Wins and losses, elation and dire
Will fade away and then expire
                 what ever
It will not matter what you do
Or what you did to make it through
Only the memories of those who knew you
                what ever
We cannot see what's in the vast unknown
Just words from a book, we call our own
Tells us we reap what we have sown
Just be your best while you are here
Those ominous clouds will soon disappear
And you will be forever dear

This is great L.J.  A universal theme! Seems there is more than one talented poet in the family. Well done to both of you!

I love this.... reading this, I can hear my daughter with her rather haughty attitude:  "Whatever!"  This is really good, and you and your brother are a bit of alright....

Whatever...Oh such a lovely poem.  And what a special thing to co-write something so meaningful with your brother.   I enjoyed the insight immensely.  Great job.
