Song For Tomorrow
If I were the autumn,‭ ‬you would be the spring,
To sweeten the loss that my presence must bring:
And when your buds opened their blooms to the sun,
We'd merge into summer and languish as one.

If I were the rhythm,‭ ‬you would be the song,
To soar high above me and let me belong:
And if we rang truly in anyone's heart,
We'd join fast our spirits and no longer part.

If I were the river,‭ ‬you would be the sea,
To treasure in secret the lost parts of me:
And where our hands meet would dissolve all our pain,
To cycle through Heaven and come down as rain.

If I were the poet,‭ ‬you would be the muse,
A finer companion I never could choose:
And when your soft murmurs would touch on my soul,
I'd put pen to paper until you were whole.

If I were the evening,‭ ‬you would be the morn,
Still clad in the mist-gown that I'd lately worn:
And when your skies opened up cloudless and bright,
We'd twine sun with moon,‭ ‬and there'd never be night.

But I am your waking and you are my dreams,
And all I love ravels around weakened seams‭;
I'll give you my life if you'll let me pretend,
And stand here beside you as if there's no end.

I love this poem, it makes my heart sing.  the rythmn and rhymes are perfect and its message is clear and bright!  thank you for your loving words and good timing...maybe something we all needed to hear!!!  but whoever this poem is penned for must be your true complement. I hope it is cherished by a loving heart.  sheedreams
