Befitting a Backlash

The depths of our defects left scented with sin

We both know its wrong but we waver again

A moment unmeasured; too short once its passed

The lengths of these longings could surely not last

The whims that we played to; the hearts left undone

We both saw it coming; we chose not to run

The meaning - no matter. The outcome unclear

The lengths that we went to could not keep her here

Befitting a backlash, I grasp for the past

We fight to the finish. We both come in last

Emotion unmetered; too much for the truth

The lengths that we went to disguising the proof

The depths of our defects; our flaws on the floor

We did what we had to; we waver no more

A moment unmeasured; too long has it been

The lengths that Id go to; to see her again

And this was left unanswered... Why?  This was amazing.. Your meanings within is at such a level to take this and make it a terrific piece.. My judgement only, but you are one heck of a writer!
