when you were only three...
you said," mamma, when i grow up
will you marry me?"
When you were only four...
you learned how to read and
over many books you would pour.
Many stories in the Good Book
together we would read
but it was the example of the
Good Samaritan that you would heed.
For you, binding up their wounds
was more than a trade
for deep inside of you are
kind and gentle qualities
that will never fade.
I'm sorry I had to leave you
when you were just taking wing
but I knew you were well-rooted
and no longer needed to cling.
So now that you are fully grown and
it's time to be looking for a wife
I wish you all the joy and happiness
that will fill up your busy life.
And if you remember your wish
when you were only three...
maybe you'll find a girl
who is much like me.
