Another fine piece you have here pops, lol ... Being that I am a country gal through and through... I love to fish, as I bait my own hook too. I find this time by the river draws me close to the one who taught me about the Lord above when I was a child! " He was my ' gramps' yeppers my grandpa! He died and went home to the good Lord, 1990 I was only 15, going on 16. I miss him dearly! I so enjoyed this write! Brought back some really good memories for me! Thank you for sharing!

Love the scene you've painted with words, John. I love to fish and any poem that captures the thrill of fishing and the nature that surrounds the act is a winner with me. I noticed a small typo in line 5. I think you've one too many 'the's. Just thought you'd want to know. ;o)
Enjoyed

Sounds very peaceful, John...I would go fishing more if I ever actually caught a fish, but maybe catching fish isnn't the main point, eh?...len

JOhn ah the joys of fishing, lazily watching the day slowly unwind
as the planet walkers crazily fire past in angry exchanges. a beautiful
way to pass the time.

reminds me of fishing on the Gulf of Mexico or viewing the banks of sleepy bayous from the water. i especially liked "the white washed houses raised like the sun-kissed faces of flowers" like houses on stilts, reaching for the sun... living across the sea our worlds are different but in some cases, the same.
beautiful and concise.
