A Cowboy's Song
A Cowboy's Song

A cowboy's song I tried to write
but it remained silent...unsung, contrite
just words on a page
I was feeling your hurt throughout the night
a frequency we have often shared
no need for words between us, I sighed

A cowboy's song I tried to sing
but it remained hushed...with no melodic ring
your rustic cabin demands repair
so I will put away my song... but not my care
wildflowers are yet to bloom
tho signs of autumn are everywhere
no need for words between us, I sighed
knowing you heard my voice too
and my prayer calling you to peace, when due

wishing you moonlight and bird song, my friend

I know next to nothing about "cowboy poetry", only that it exists. But if this is an example of it I like it Linda Jo although I too can find no "melodic ring" here the  soul of the song comes through. You've been gone for a while CF I missed you glad you're back
