The Beatles, Carnations, and You
Paul was my favorite
there was no substitute
for his kaleidescope eyes
no, i'm not having a monumental,
contemporary, or futuristic identity crisis
this leather jacket is reflective of my past
okay, i was a little moonstruck, i will admit
Paul was my favorite...uh, I already said that
like warm butter to clarify
the spicy scent of carnations
always take me back to high school
study hall; my first glimpse of the Beatles
Life magazine...four smiling faces
famous hair cuts
the spicy scent of carnations
junior prom...Sun Lakes High
young love...heart-to-heart
warm spring night
green meadows...
lush carpet of oat grass
first time
tasting chocolate covered ants
and the spicy scent of carnations
Author's Notes:
is it possible to take up a word bank challenge with the words you submit yourself?
clarify                                         moon struck                  heart-to-heart
substitute                                    monumental
slow-dance                                oat grass
carnation                                    kaleidescope
leather jacket                             euphoric
reflective                                    Sun Lakes

LJ....I loved this. I'm a "scent" person. And I always seem to be taken somewhere else by the smell of someones perfume or the smell of someone cooking something I float into a memory that I forgot was even stored inside my head. Of course you did a wonderful job with this word bank of yours after all it was you who tought me of the world bank world! Meg

I admire you that write the word bank poems.  I can not do that at all. I think it is brilliant.  I love this one, I love the Beatles.  They were a bit before me so I was not in the Beatle mania (I more of in the U2, Linkin Park mania lol) But I loved John Lennon.  There was something about him.  This is stunning!  The Fab Four was really FAB!

Well, I read it with my prom in, my fav was Ringo...There was just something about his moodiness...And, I knew a guy in a leather jacket at that time, but they never went to prom...*smile*

Good work...
Margaret...the Bagperson, rockin' to the sounds...

the style of this lends itself greatly to the idea of looking back on memories etc...sort of a stream of consciousness effect.
nice use of words, full of imagery and senses.

Do i smell something "Fishy" lol. It was a good challenge for both of us Linda. I think your write is a great use of those difficult words. You used them in a nostalgic way the will bring back many memories to so many people.
