She walks the beach
I see her
She picks pebbles from the sand
I wonder what she finds
In dreams within her hand.
I wonder where she goes
When tidal forces move
When suicidal starfish
Get washed upon the shore.
Moment to moment
Her day is like the rest
She picks up pebbles from the sand
She looks for dreams
And found a starfish
Waiting softly in the sand.
Author's Notes:
I am not suicidal. Just a starfish who waits for the beachcomer.

What a neat perspective. I'm smiling imagining you as a starfish.

i really enjoyed this.  i found the flow of reading this to be somewhat dreamlike, with all the 's' and 'sh' sounds, mimicking the sounds and atmosphere of a seashore.  you also introduce some beautiful ideas, like 'suicidal starfish' and the dreams in the hand...nice imagery.

You are so brilliant with metaphors, you write it with no difficulty at all.
Beautiful poem, speaks of so much more.
Lovely image.

John: lovely poem.  I pick up starfish, take them home and add glitter and small shells to them and they then glamourize my kitchen and writing area.
