Heidi, Dutch, and Scootch
a close relationship flourished between
Heidi, Dutch, and Scootch
Heidi wore braids and freckles splashed across her nose
long legs, the kind that looked good in lederhosen
you know, the leather shorts worn by hikers in Bavaria
she appealed to the aristocrats who invited her
to the greyhound races and would insist...
come with us and take Shalimar's leash
she wears a rhinestone collar, yours will be of diamonds
Dutch had an old soul that rested deep in her heart
dainty... yet in a sporty maverick style
she had all of the answers
like a gathering of philosophers
long silky blonde hair, crystal blue eyes
that twinkled in the night; striking characteristics
she never met a stranger and had nothing to fear
not in the physical world nor in any metaphysical realm
Scootch, a tiny chameleon was a blend of the two
no true color inside or out
how could she be true blue? she was the color of you
she represented a new generation...
under the influence of Woodstock
dark raven curls, green eyes like lightning
and a smile that melted glaciers
her imagination, a treasure chest that sparkled
with topics from the sea
she had a pelagic mind
one day Heidi, Dutch, and Scootch
took a psychedelic trip to the top of Trail Ridge
it started out as any other sunny Colorado day
but moved from ordinary to something truly devotional
no mere assumption of truth
what happened was more than a resurface!
the impact reached into the inner core;
not just a new coat of paint for the chameleon to wear
themes of majesty, power, and justice
 shouted from distant mountain peaks
like a panaramic view from before the flood
eyes directed down to the earth again
an intimate sheltered place where a cluster of tiny alpine flowers
bloomed with their feet in the snow
only a loving Creator could design such complex variety
and make this scene come alive!
each one came away with something special that day
the question is...who was the one that
saw Love, Wisdom, Justice, and Power firsthand;
who was the one that found God
up on Trail Ridge?

this is what i enjoy about word banks - each author handles them so differently.  you do a masterful job - i love the character development and intermixing of each of these extraordinary women (do you happen to have their phone numbers?).  you do a great job taking me to the mountains.

Hello Linda,

A delightful worked out bank of words here, as always!  The three friends were picture clear described and the special trip they had together was very creatively expressed in the fine writing!

Greetings: Peter

Hello Linda,

What a nice poem you wrote. All parts are beautiful, especially the stanza was talking about "chameleon" "How could she be true blue, She was the color of you" this part can be refered to people ; changing the color =changing our views. Or  Might be indicated "God's power" to change nature. It's deep. Thanks.
