Once a Song Bird
Yesterday, in Dedication
We recognized our dear friend Barbara Ross
With the greatest Respect and
Enduring Love
Once a rare song bird
Singing harmony and resembling a jazz singer,
a remarkable voice; smoky and sensual
But I, as well as others, have never heard her voice
A Dragon had taken it away
Regretfully... he has stolen her life too
Her life came to a close last week
But her Legacy of Love and Devotion lives on!
She was a pretty lady
Her shimmering blue eyes
Could tell stories beyond words
Pure white hair reflecting wisdom
She found strength in God's word and
Studied it from creation to revelation
Courageous and powerful in her faith
Her pixie...almost "little girl" look
might fool you
But do you know anyone who's traveled the last frontier
 Hiking down the Grand Canyon
 and up again... six times?
Don't ever try to call her a goddess
She would likely shake her finger at you
for she wore the coat of humility
and her feet were shod with unselfishness
Walking miles in search of ones with
 whom to share Bible Truths
Barbara was generous, abundantly helpful and kind
A shield from adversity to all she held dear
A tree with many branches
seven children...fifteen grandchildren
don't forget the little ones...
 two great-grandchildren
 Beloved by all!
And when the time comes...
for God to call her name and say, come out
of the Memorial tomb
I hope I am right there... over yonder
So I can hear
her song bird voice
as she sings
Life Without End At Last

Hello Linda,

I was touched into the very valley of my heart by this powerful tribute payed to your friend who passed away!  How well were those words invested, how perfectly they seemed to fit within these so meaningful lines!  These most beautiful written lines.....  And although your friend not wanted to be called a Goddess, she was one and was thus described to us by the hand of a grand Poetess!

Greetings: Peter

What a dedication! Grand Canyon???? Whoa. What a woman. Sorry for your loss. It sounds like a loss for many. Gives us all pause and encourages us to continue the legacy of being. Lovely.
