Her Secret
Watching the full moon rise
Above the Superstition Mountains
I drift back to the legend
of the Lost Dutchman's gold mine.
Jacob Waltz prospected
the wild desert terrain.
He discovered gold in 1886
Leaving cryptic clues but no map
Before he died.
Treasure hunters still search
Hoping to stumble upon this elusive gold.
Many maps have surfaced
Including one drawn by Julia Thomas,
the woman who cared for the Dutchman
Before he died.
Does she hold the secret?
Or is it held by the silent moon
Rising above the Superstition Mountains?
