My Name Is....
My real name is Calamity
but I'd rather wade in Calm Waters.
I've been called, Why Are You So Sad?
...and Woman With No Daughters.
I'm a good listener whose name is
A Cradle For Your Thoughts.
You can come to me when
Your Heart is Tied Up in Knots.
My real name is Sukulilli,
the native American word for silly.
Yesterday I was known as Silent Sophie
with nothing to say.
Now you can call me Soliloquy
and A Bright New Day.
Counselor, Ambassador, A Bright Northern Star
Skootch, Cameleon, and Feathered With Tar
Mending Fences, Laughing Buckets and
Caterpillar Eyes;
Elf Shoes, Champagne, Silk Pajamas,
 and Dreams of Super-size.
Shee, Baby Phat, Speedee, and Kimonojo
Sweet Pia, Caroline, and plain 'ole Ljo.
Names are little labels
that tell who you are
like Jumping Over Puddles,
Chasing Tumbleweeds,
and Come As You Are.
So let me get to know you...
My Bright Little Star
Give yourself a few names
and reveal who you are.

I have a poem titled "My name is" as well....

The name you are called during certain times of your life can be what you use to relate to your attitude or thoughts at that time or in my case the people who mean the most to you during that time and called you by that specific name. Names carry great meaning but the name in the end that means the most is the name you choose to call yourself.....

Nice write : )

Sukulilli? What a perfect word. We have something similar in Italian.....just ask my family. Silliness is Joe. Some names change with a role, some with a mood, some with certain actions. Nice work Calamity. jp

Hello Linda,

I love the many names you have and the way you have shared them with us in this delight of a poetic achievement!  It had me joy in its beauty, chuckle with its fun and feel all fuzzy by its tenderness....  You are a grand lady!

Greetings: Peter

I loved the subtle rhythm of this, and the way it flows from one name to the next.  Each one says so much, and it all comes together so perfectly.

Oh heck Linda I am: Classical Heart, Battle Warrior, The Orphan, Sad Susan, Convoluted Kook, Hope's Headquarters, Deep Thinker, Trusted Confident, Tired Tess and Strong Shoulders. ((I've been called a few other things in my time too...but we better keep this clean)) Wonderful poem that encourages introspection. Very nice...enjoyed!
