Finding Dearest
I run out of the house,
in search of the ones who stole you.
It will not take long,
I wasn't gone long enough for them to run far,
surely I will hear you cries for help.

I run down the streets,
I hear you yell,
it is my name that is torn from your lips.
Men push you into a van,
I take a photo with my mind.

My car is nearby,
I run to it and get in,
I jerk it into reverse,
and peal out after the van,
I swerve in and out of cars for miles,
following you.

The van stops at a dilapidated old farm house,
I stay behind a clump of trees in the lane,
so they don't know I'm here yet.
I watch them pull and push your struggling body inside,
and the monster inside me growls in anger.

How dare they touch you,
how dare they even breathe your air!
You will not suffer the injustice of it.

They close the door,
and I shut off the engine and get out of the car.
I walk with barely disclosed fury to the door,
I hear guns being cocked,
those will be of no use against me.
I am an immortal,
they will not harm me.

I throw open the door,
it hits the wall behind it with a clang,
I want blood.
They open fire,
but the bullets do no harm,
they just go through me.

I let out a malicious laugh,
their idiocy amazes me.

I go for one and knock his gun away,
I take his head in my hands,
and break his neck.
One down, three to go.
I flash to another and break his arm
before he knows what is happening,
I grasp his neck and squeeze until he breathes no more.

Quick as lightning I go to the other,
I use my hand to rip his throat out,
now it is all bloody,
and I'm almost taken over by blood-lust.

The last one tries to run,
but he cannot outrun me,
I am a vampire.
I flash in front of him and grab his throat,
I bring him to my mouth and sink my fangs into his neck.
I drain him quickly.

They are all dead,
there is no one left to hurt you.
I walk over to you and gather your trembling body into my arms,
I tell you that it is all right, that you're safe.
No one will touch you again.
