The Mistress

Poetry is my lover
Words tease me, arouse me.
I find myself quite overcome by the desire
To delve deeply into rhyme, stanzas...
He tantalizes my being in strange ways
Liberates me from constriction,
Breathes on me his yearning
Unleashes some inner demon...
Raises up the goddess in me.
Opens my mind and much more.
Captures my senses
Swings my emotional weathercock

At times poetry wakes me from sleep
So I can devote myself to him entirely.
I am consumed with the love I feel.
Yes, poetry is my lover
I am open to him
He devours me
And I submit

Romanced by poetry ... hmmm interesting thought.  Wonder how many of us fall into the same category.  Wonder how many men would have to change your "he"  to a "she."

A lovely write!  It is such a gift of grace to be consumed this way.  It gives us a reason for our reality, for our inner being to find direction, form and balance in a world that is quite challenging.  This was a beautiful expression of this creative blessing that we share.  Thank You, Loretta

...just about the time I decide to put away my pen, tablet and self expression you come along and post something that inspires me to try and write something half as good as this...I smile...beautifully stated! this explains our continued love affair with poetry.
