Shadows On The Soul

You and I
We have come to this pass
It is now that time for you to fly
Into the Sun

Time has flown so why do you seek
The world has got younger
Life is not the same for the meek
The Isle of Apples is here where we are

The last boatman has left for the nether shore
Souls have stood there for an age
A pass on the "wheel"
Some held trapped in a cage

The "Bright Ones" stand like living flames
Fear is banished to the darkness
The Stag roars his challenge to the moor
His tines, their colour, a golden lustrous

The old sage sits by the river and sings
Of the time before time
When life was all one
The song in us is sung in circled ryhme

Black speech, then a verse of love
The river sings back, speaking of the sea
And the world that has become
Is the old one then, me?

Washer at the ford, she waits
Cleaning the armour of heroes
My cuirass is washed by her knowing hands
My death song she then does compose

I'm dying unto myself and the world has begun
I fly on wings of love
Into the Sun
On the wings of a dove
