Behind the Glass

I dream my thoughts from behind the glass

of  peer groups dressed in laughter,

from behind the stares of seeking eyes

driving away friendships

never given the chance to bloom.

I dream of never involved closenessís,

out of my reach Ö untouched

yet, greatly desired.

I see a tinctured world from behind my mirror,

unpenetrated by anotherís insight,

slightly left of true focus,

and grossly shaded from accessible view.

Must I watch silently from behind my mirror

as life travels slowly past,

watching others living their dreams,

while I am never quite able to participate?

Deliver me Lord from my ineptness

and let me enjoy the naked life

Thou so proudly bestowed upon me.

Let me leave a joyful reflection for others

upon the face of my fading mirror.

Author's Notes:
Ever feel like you just don't quite fit in society, as though you are either a few years ahead of others, or many years behind and can't quite catch up?
Uncomfortable isn't it?
