My Deadbeat Uncle
My Deadbeat Uncle

I have a deadbeat uncle
Who has never come to call.
He writes asking for money,
But I donít see him at all.

There arenít any photographs,
Of me sitting on his knee.
Heís not in any portraits,
Of our friends or family.

He just writes me once a year,
Making his selfish demands.
Itís this kind of extortion
That my uncle understands.

He has done nothing for me
To earn a thing he receives.
Iím blessed that heís my uncle,
At least, thatís what he believes.

He never calls on birthdays,
Or sends me a Christmas card.
Thanksgiving comes without him,
He has shown me no regard.

I was in the hospital,
And he didnít even call.
When I nearly lost my home,
He gave me no help at all.

Yes heís my deadbeat uncle,
Though I think thatís just a scam.
Nowhere on my family tree,
Is there an Uncle Sam.
