Wiffle Watchers

Have you ever witnessed a rain drop drop,
or watched a skinny sea gull sing?
Have you ever jumped a jump rope’s rope,
or flew on a hummingbird’s wing?
Have you ever wondered with a wandering mind
just where the time has gone,
or seen a silly snow goose swim
beside a swooning, swaying swan?
Have you ever watched a bat bob by
in the cool of an ending day,
watched a fire fly floating on a fluid dream,
or seen a horse fly lose its way?
If you’ve never fiddled with a fiddler crab,
or caught a catchy tune,
then you’d better get going before you’re gone.
Vacation starts in June!!

Author's Notes:
Until I worked at a school as a custodian, I always thought that summer vacations were for the children.  Wrong!!  The teachers need the vacations every bit as much as the students.  You ... have your children one on one, or however many children as you have on one.  The teachers , who do not have the same punishing capabilities as you, has them  20+ on one ... 7 hours out of the day.  As happy as you are to see the students go back to school in the fall, the teacher is every bit as glad to see the school year come to its end each summer.
As a custodian I always said,
"This job wouldn't be bad at all, if it weren't for the teachers and students."
