Yea, Though I Ride

I ride within an obscure tunnel
carved in the midnight fog
by the penetrating beams
of my probing headlights.
My feet surge safely forward
through the cleared mist,
while my eyes stare
through the quintessence of
rock with no substance.
I am able to see down,
but unable to see forward.
What is present in the roadway
beyond my precarious view?
Where … is the roadway
I travel so often?
In the near , but distant fog,
two yellow eyes search towards me,
rapidly growing larger and larger,
merging their tunnel with mine.
Blackness.
Total blackness.
A new Light … stands before my soul.

“Hello … Father.”

Author's Notes:

It can happen just that fast.
Always tell your love ones you love them whenever you leave.

My wife says she likes it, "Just don't do it."
