Tashtego
He came to us as a student;
hungry
reading voraciously-still does
commenting astutely with kindnesss-always will.

Born a poet, lived and breathed, a poet
but never realized his gift
until he picked up his silver pen
opened his heart
let his words flow and rise to the top
like cream.

He is sentimental
waits for the full face of the moon
to light his path into the night.
He follows its pull
like the mighty influence on the tides
just to be close
to animals in the wild.

What will take his breath away?
A clear, moonless night at sea
so many stars
shimmering on the water
rerflecting diamonds in the sky;
a sunset over the ocean
and a lofty mountain view.

For him Love is elusive;
but forever like fingerprints.
He believes in second chances...
themes of redemption
will always bring him to tears.

We can be glad this poet
found us...
and we found him;
singing in the shower like Roy
his own rendition of Pretty Woman.

He draws his poems
from the dusty night air
of twinkling stars,
vivid childhood memories,
and stark realities.

he is Tashtego

he is Andrew, our friend

As always, your words come from the heart, and indeed, you dedicate your thoughts to such a loving, kind, gentle, funny and talented fellow~!!  You have given us a NEW glimpse into the fabric of his being....Very nicely done, Ljo~!!  Thank you for giving us another gift of your "seeing" into others' souls...

Linda, you truly captured the heart and soul of my dear and faithful friend....though he is a bit bawdy at times! All part of his charm.  I love him to bits and always will...and proud as can be of him. He is one in a million and I am happy to say I brought him here.....a treasure he is to one and all.
Great dedication!
~Cindy

Such a warm and wonderful dedication that depicts our poetic friend so well.  I am certain the dance of delight when read is still fresh in his mind.  No wonder you asked if this was Andrew week. LOL.
I now understand. *smile*   What a wonderful gift you have given.  I am so pleased you wrote this for Andrew. *smile* - even though he feels a bit exposed, you did a terrific job.

Excellent. ~Pamela

Whoo Hoo! Now Linda this was perfecto! Our own Andrew in the flesh, for your words told of him as if it was written on stone. No other finer in alls hearts than him. The one who is all over the place, he's like a slinky. His little jokes making all fall off their chairs. Oh the Doctor bill is in the mail Andrew by the way! lol

Wonderful tribute Linda. You de Bomb!

Hugs,

Moonie xx

He's a harpoon wielding Captain of the high seas, a big fan of the Beatles, a master fisherman of flying fish, a dog lover, a history expert, a karma sutra novice, a charming poet and a great friend to many.  Just don't make him angry or try to beat him in music trvia, according to his own poem.  Lovely poem, Linda Jo.

A wonderful dedication to Andrew-if I didn't know this character you speak of, I would wish I did..so now that you shed some light on the real Andrew I like him even more and because your heart lead you to write such a moving and loyal piece I admire you more also!

Excellent piece, full of color and valuable characteristics.

I am absolutely blown away by this. It is a bit like walking naked down Main Street (but not to scare the little kids). You fill this seafarer with both humility and pride and I thank you for the honor you bestow on me with your pen. Friends like you are a treasure.
