To be at total ease

With those you love

But beware of that word

For it can carry with it

A curse

A peaceful word

So very serene in itself

Yet, it is filled with pitfalls

That go unseen

A trap

Sounds so innocent

Giving a sense of calm

Be wary, for it has teeth

That can cause

A wound

We strive to attain it

Just to feel a sense of security

When it is in our grasp

It is looked upon as a malady

A crime

When you feel you have it all

Those bonds that are made of steel

Then comes the inevitable erosion

The eventual fatal plunge

A tragedy

Yes, I know a collapse often comes when you're not expecting it.  I guess we need to comfortable, but forever vigilant.  You have a wonderful way with words Henry.  Great job on this.  Ha, as always.  :-)

B. doneff, I think said it all.  The question is is it better to have loved and lost than to never loved at all.  Yes the joy and complete bliss that comes with Love is just grand but the tragedy of it's loss can be so devastating.  I shall never get comfortable and  I shall never give all of my heart again.  A terrific poem.

Oh yes...even "comfortable" has a downside as is indicated as this poem unfolds. Very sturdy piece Henry...wise words indeed. Well done!

Wow!!! Henry this intense and so deep. You used allot of words that were chilling, agree with Margaret on that one.. But also made some sense in a way. For can we become too comfortable in anything? I don't think so. At least I can't. Something always takes that feeling away whenever I do.. Lot of thoughts inside this. I have to read it again for every time I see it, there comes another one.. A big wow to this!!!

Excellent writing by the way guy!

Hmmmm....Comfortable, huh??  None of us can become too it makes us lazy and unaware...Talking about being comfortable and applying it is two different things....There is a waryness within your lines, dear Henry....A curse, A trap, A wound, A crime, A tragedy-- When it is put into that is chilling....  However, a great write, as always...

Sunshine and Happiness to ya'......Aunt Margaret....

When its good, its good, and when its bad, its bad. Love...yep, best things avoided really, lol.

Sometimes we get too comfortable and forget that we need to keep other things alive...

This write has a lot of power to it, Henry...and I guess in my case I have to make sure that "comfort" doesn't become "complacency."
