Ann's Poetry Calendar...Baby I'm a Fool
How were you to know that
this was just a  little game to me?
Can't you guess our foolish chat
carries very little weight for me?

Yet I think you saw it coming from a mile away
with these words that you say...
Baby, I'm a fool
who thinks it's cool to fall in love

If I gave my fleeting time
you'd realize it's very good to care
Logic doesn't seem to mind
if we're captivated by this  love affair

Still my heart would benefit from a litte tenderness
from time to time, but never mind...
'Cause Baby, I'm a fool
who thinks its cool to fall in love

You should take just one moment
and be sure it's not insanity
Look me in the eye and tell me
love is never based on pure vanity

So while your gentle heart is beating
hurry up... this moment's fleeting
Kiss me now...don't ask me why...
'Cause Baby I'm a fool
who thinks it's cool to fall...

yes, Baby I'm the fool
that never thought he'd fall in love

with you

Author's Notes:
Ann's calendar for July 18. Rewrite that song that keeps running thru your mind.

song, Baby I'm a Fool by Melody Gardot.  She sings from her own viewpoint, "how was I to know that this was always only just a little game to you..."  In my rendition I've turned it around to show his viewpoint.  I've changed and  condensed the lyrics as well.
