Sweet death..
In the darkest hours I dream
Feel the presence of your form come through the fog
In my mind, creeping slowly
Moving along the very essence of my thoughts
And I float..

'Awww, sweet death..'
I feel you.

Above all I feel my body move
Towards your darkened form
Your hands held out towards me
Grasping at my mind
Beckoning me closer towards your salvation.

Yet you let me linger, sweet death
Hold me just so close, yet still let me feel freedom
The touch of your fingers barely grasping me
Holding my thoughts prisoner
Yet still releasing me in the end.

What is it you want from me
Oh sweet death?

I feel your breath beckoning
Your darkness calling to me
Your hand reaching out for me.

Yet you slowly stay above,
Close, but still so far.

Yet I welcome you..

Eyes closed I reach out my hand,
Move towards your figure
And gladly give in.

Yet in thoughts your voice comes forth,
Smooth, silky, and soft, whispering
'No my dear, your time is not yet'..

And I softly whisper...

'What is it you want from me'
Oh sweet death?

Waiting for death to take you? Moonie, you're not allowed to go yet, there is so much more for you to see and experience. I know the Mets are horrible, but that's no reason to want to die!!! LOL, seriously Moonie, you paint a dark picture here, one that will have others seeing themselves in this situation.   Hugs,   Henry

only you could make death sensual - dark, strangely enticing - and as always, you express your ideas is such fluid language that washes us in warm emotion - in other words - i like it!

...we were created to live forever...perhaps that is why death is so hard to accept...yes, at times, due to unbearable circumstances we welcome death...but originally it was not meant for us to suffer through life...our first parents sold us into slavery...they chose death for us all instead of life in a paradise...death is an enemy...but at times he calls out to us...in our agony his voice sounds like a friend.

But in reality our friend is the Creator who holds life in his hands...His purpose to blanket the earth in a paradise will one day...finally be realized.

my heart goes out to you and yours...♥  Ljo

Moonie

A wonderful poem.  I have become good friends with death and he still continues to hold off at a distance.  I have invited him many times to come to me and plead with him to take me on a journey to escape from what I feel often to be an intolerable world.  Time after time he returns me to live another day.  We continue to dance day after day, month after month and year after year.  Sometimes becoming ever so intimate, lovers are him and I.
Perhaps I said to much, but a very thought provoking poem for me.

I do not know for sure but I don't believe I will Death when my time comes, I have looked forward to it's release many times in the past yet somehow manage to stick around. I have said this before and will again, you can take any subject and do it justice, just as you have with this lyrical piece. IMHO Your talent is like our universe, ever expanding, growing, becoming more. Yes one day death will claim you as it will us all but it is because your heart will be overfilled with love and finally burst from joy!

Unto every man (and woman) it is appointed a time in which to die, and sometimes i wonder...if we knew the very hour in which our time would come, what would we do with those final days...hours...minutes?

I know where this one springs from, me gal, and I understand the emotions behind it. Hang strong...but know that if you need to let go and scream or cry or beat your head against a wall, I'm here to yell at.

Love you...am here for you.

Captivating.  Making death a solid entity that lures us almost like a lover, yet turns us away at the moment we would surrender.
Really quite masterful, MS.
