Only in an Emergency

Break the glass.
Please…
Break the glass … today.

Every day … I stand
Alone;
Silently,
Patiently,
Waiting for the glass
to break … to escape.

Escape to where?
Escape
From behind the impounding
Glass door.
Please … fashion an emergency
To grant my escape.

Author's Notes:

Being retired is like being an unused fire extinguisher in its wall case ...
waiting for an emergency which never happens.
