Ever Friends - For Linda Jo

Ever Friends

When there are questions in your dreamy eyes,

there always is a friend who is close by

to wipe a tear away before it dries,

reminding you how high that eagles fly.

Midst dreamworlds now on which your heart relies

and creates for the world your wondrous flair,

remember he who softly stood by you,

forget not, in the shadows, he was there.

And know that as you give your heart to one,

there will, in time, be love returned to you;

since love of dearest friends canít be undone,

and heartbeats tell you just how much I care,

when hands fall silent in the setting sun,

remember in your heart Ė Iím always there.

Author's Notes:
A Sonnet written in iambic pentameter using an Italian rhyme scheme borrowed from P. B. Shelley.  The poem is a response to a request by Sheedreams that I write a poem for her.  How can so serious a request from such a valued friend be denied?  I only wish my weak attempt here could do justice to our friendship...  which is to rise above the level of mediocrity and soar on the wings of eagles.  Thanks for being there for me, LJ.

As I take the time to read this poem again...I just wanted you to know how much it still means to me.  thanks again!  Well now I know when You wish it...and I dream will come true.  The part about, "as you give your heart to one, there will, in time, be love returned to you"  has happened in my life.  Love has certainly come knocking, and I have swung open the door...This poem is very sentimental to me.  You are amazing and I am honored to be counted as your friend.

You did her proud Tristan. Linda Jo is a loving, giving soul and there is nothing better than being able to immortalise someone in words. Well written as always Alison x
