Bygone Sleep

I donít want to get up,
my eyes won't open.
My blankets are keeping me warm.
The alarm clock beckons.
Boisterous birds sing.
Raindrops Ö itís starting to storm.

I just want to stay
in my secure little world
where I dream whatever I can.
Work screams to me.
Itís time to move.
Breakfast Ö must I eat brand?

Oh, for the day
when I could remain in bed.
I slept till the morning was spent.
Now itís get up,
there is work to be done
for I ... have to pay the rent.

Author's Notes:

Oh, for the carefree life when I could sleep in,

and someone else took care of the bills.
Alas, that time is long gone.

Hello Gene,

And so it is isn't it, chuckle...  We are born and grow up to take care of those that are given birth through us giving them some care free time to spend in bed.  Well said and beautifully written too, a wonderful read!

Greetings: Peter

Hey, Gene,

Body & spirit keep us going.

The rent keeps us without equity!

All the best,

Jamieson
