I Learned

I Learned to walk.
I learned to run.
I learned to run
               when I should have walked.

I learned to love
I learned to hate
I learned to love to hate.

I learned to laugh.
I learned to smoke.
I learned to laugh at my smoking.
               It was easier than quitting.

I learned to share.
I learned to be selfish.
I learned ... that to be selfish
is far more profitable to my pocket.

I learned to work
I learned to play
I learned to let others work
               while I played at life.

         Who was my teacher?

Author's Notes:

No, I don't smoke.
I quit that bad habit thirty five years ago
after thirteen years of being stupid.

The real question Gene is not who taught you but what taught you? Life has taught you. God  would be the who who helped and walked you through it. I really loved this piece.  Always Maggie.

Sounds like we must have had the same teacher and yes it is a bad habit and a hard one to break after fifty years in my case but I'm getting there heh heh~Graham.
