Just Thoughts

Hope, Love and Life.

Future              Fear                  Focus                Fight                 Fibrosis
Simplicity         Sickness            Survival             Sorrow             Strength
Hope               Health                Happiness         Heroes             Heaven
Cancer            Care                   Coping             CT                   Completeness
Life                  Love                  Live                  Longevity         Laughter

Imagine spending your life wanting praying to die dreading every minute.  Never being able to feel the warmth or happiness of the sun of the snow, the flowers, the sweet melody of the birds. Never loving yourself, unable to admire the full beauty of nature.

Then one day life is the most wonderful experience, no more internal pain.  Everything is beautiful, the sparkle of the snow even the dark grey clouds seem to dance across the sky.

I am sure at some point in a person's life, they come face to face with the possibility of illness and death.  I think most hope to slip peacefully away in the night.   Never experiencing the pain of leaving friends and family.

A slow progression of a smokers cough that just won't quit.  Month after month.  You have quit you keep telling yourself.  Next month.  Soon, very soon.  Your doctor is concerned, we should run some tests.  The first test showed abnormalities.  Another test, will give a more definitive picture.  Are there any unusual lung diseases in your family?  How about fibrosis, immune diseases, cancer?

A peacefulness comes over you.  Isn't this what you always wanted, to die.  For a final release from your pain.  Peace. But the pain has dissipated, life love and hope have found you.

Then you go home look up parenchymal pulmonary abnormalities. Sadness has found you.  You say "But wait, I've just started living."
Perhaps it's not fibrosis, it just some antibody antigen reaction.  Treated with steroids.  Stop worrying don't look anything up.  At least not until you have a definitive answer.

You haven't made a difference, You haven't left your mark for the better on this world.  You've got a career to start.  You have bills to pay, you can't leave your family with them.  You want to help people, You want to love and be loved.  You want to travel.  You have so much to do. what about children.  If you can't have any you can adopt.  What about getting your own house and that big dog.  Swimming in a clear blue ocean with white sand tickling your toes.  Making love on the beach on a warm night under the full moon.

You use to feel so old, you were old since the day you were born.  Finally you have found your youthful heart and realize "Hey, your just a baby".  Life has just begun and a beautiful life it will be if given a chance to live it.

Accept what God has in store for you.  You may find peace for eternity with all those you love.  Isn't this what we life's about living a good life until we me our creator.  Did you live a good life?  This doesn't me give up, fight the good fight and live life to the fullest like everyday is your last.  You could meet with an accident tomorrow.

Just live, love and never let go of HOPE.

Author's Notes:
A story hopefully with a happy ending, praying, living and never giving up.  I'm going to quit smoking on Wednesday, after 30 years.  I've tried many times, many things but I think the best is just go cold turkey.

Thanks for listening

Mom was a two pack a day smoker.  Doctor asked her if she wanted to live.  She said, "Yes."  He told her, "Quit smoking or you will not live much longer."  After 43 years of smoking and five heart by-passes she quit cold turkey.  It can be done.  With a cigarette in your hand sit in front of a mirror and watch yourself smoke.  Seeing the smoke come out your nose, and mouth is

not pretty.  I quit after 13 years.  My wife quit.  Cigarettes killed my uncle and about 8 friends.  You can do it.  Go for it.

Very well though out Tina, kicking any addictive habit is difficult. By writing this it appears you're ready to quit and that is a big key to being successful because if you're not ready to admit to yourself that you need to quit, you won't. Good wishes for you succeeding Tina.  Hugs,   Henry

I have been tobacco free for 6 months, 11 days... 6 hours... 21 mintues... Alright I'm just exaggerating the hours and minutes but it's extremely tough! Good luck. Although you immediately need to find something else to do on your usual smoke breaks, for instance come here and post >_>

I quit after 28 years and cold turkey is the best way at least I found it to be so. Mark Twain said "It's easy to quit smoking (or tabacco) I do it everyday" Good luck and perservere!
