Cold wind blows and it touches your face
You feel the intense feeling of lonely
The world races by at an incredible pace
You know, it's meant for the strong of heart, only
And you realize, you're alone on a field
Where emotions are bared to the world
And in your heart, you know your fate has been sealed
Your self esteem, like a rock, to be hurled
Oh, why does it rain?....Why does it rain?
Fallen heroes, strewn by the railroad tracks
Never to be acknowledged or forgotten
Love's final failings fall between the cracks
Making lust so cheap and misbegotten
A whisper tells you that you're ready to go
As standing armies of dead men await battle
Looking logically for a reason to show
As the downtrodden voice their death rattle
Oh, why does it rain?....I know why it rains
Remember the dreams, all those fanciful days
When sense was all that it took to survive
But as one grows and learns of more pragmatic ways
When every day is fortunate indeed, to be alive
Remember those souls by the railroad tracks
With no energy left at all, to go on living
Through the blood, sweat, tears and the broken backs
They paid with their lives and still kept on giving
Remember who you are....oh yes....remember....

John,  There is hope for love to enter the heart once more, after a cleaning rain.  Beautifully written.  Tina

Your opening two stanzas sound like how I felt the first time I stood before an audience and read my poems.  You could not have caught the feeling any better if you had tried for a thousand years.
