Expectations
She can close her eyes
to things she doesn't want to see,
like him with that other girl,
but she can't close her heart
to things she doesn't want to feel,
like that rush of emotion she gets
when he looks her way
as if to say:
"Hey, look what you don't have".

If she had known it would hurt this much
she never would have told him
that she loved him.

And she's just a stupid girl
with hopes too high
and feelings much too strong
for a boy like him.

Her mind tells her:
"Trust no one.
Therefore, you develop no expectations
and will find yourself
seldom hurt or disappointed".

Where there are no expectations there shouldn't be any disappointments.  However, is that a way you'd really like to live.  Not me.  I'll still give my love out.  Whether anyone accepts it is totally up to them.  My choice ... is ... my choice.  I can live with it.  She should listen to her heart in the affairs of love.
