If I Were a Monkey

If I were a monkey

I could jump around

All afternoon

And no one could stop me

But Iím not a monkey

So I canít jump around

All afternoon

Because Iím in school

And in school

You are not allowed to jump around

All afternoon

Like a monkey

I get out of school at three oíclock

And then I have my homework to do

And after that

Iím too tired to do anything

If I were a poet

I would write about being a monkey

But I'm not a poet

So I can't write about being a monkey

So I won't even try

Thank you for a poem I liked

About being a mon key...Yer pal, len

What is wonderful about poetry is the ability to be incredibly insightful while doing it in a fun, playful way and that is exactly what we have here. Absolutely wonderful piece.

Very cute co-write, this reminded me of my school days and the trouble I would get into! Nice work on this.   Henry
