You Will Never Leave My Heart

You Will Never Leave My Heart

The Gulf produced this beauteous bay

With rolled up pants I stand here today

Kicking the sand lazily then pausing

Looking out to see pelicans diving

Spearing into the water only to disappear

Emerging triumphant with their fishy catch

Lifting off effortlessly I stand and watch

This majestic beast fly off into azure sky

Sun huge and golden falling done to die

To be replaced by cooling moon and star-sky

I am tranquillity itself here on the coast

Sanctuary crafted by G-d himself in the West

Florida - - I love you and want to stay

But to England I must return this day

You will never leave my heart...

Author's Notes:
Not being particularly descriptive I usually avoid writing Nature poetry but shivering here in the U.K. I am reminded of a sunny break in Florida which was a lot warmer than here!

You have such a way of expression that always leaves me in awe! Stunning, stark and deep writing

Yo!  What about 'O to be in England!'  [Shall I write to the Queen?  Nah.]  Glad you enjoyed Florida!  --David

They say, 'love is in the air'
I say, 'does it really matter hot or cold'?! - - and you're torn between 'cold hearted UK' and 'hot headed Florida'!

She, sips her wine next to her fiery fireplace; and Len thinks we are stranger to snow -- No Len, snow is our second nature here in the UK.

Loved it, ~ Dean

When its freezing out side we want warm summer days....

I am a desert person myself...  I perfer summer and fall...

But in the winter I have my fireplace and my glass of red wine to see me through...

 Beautiful poem my dear.....
