Poor Old Lobster

Poor Old Lobster

I feel for the poor old lobster which goes out

For a bit of a wander poking here and there

Looking for a bite to eat when he spots a nice

Basket which looks like a nice place to rest

Imagine his surprise when a man in a dirty vest

Yanks the pot out of the water in nary a trice

And carts him off to a local fishmongers where

He’s put on a counter next to an unhappy trout

Just when he’s having a doze as one is apt

He spies some of his cousins who seem rapt

By the arrival of a large man with a big pan

Which is full of water but not like the sea

It bubbles so he thinks ‘Ah - - a Jacuzzi’

But no we all know what happens -- for shame!

One time, I was in the supermarket, and I happened to be near the seafood department. There was a big tank, full of lobsters swimming around and this little kid, maybe five years old was with his mom, there. He walked over to the tank, looked at the lobsters, shook his head and said to himself...."If they only knew" That blew my mind, that such a little kid could come up with that. lol. Yhis work reminded me of that.

We keep kosher so no lobsters for us!  Regardless, I feel sorry for the poor things!  I'm a mush. :(
