Angel

Angel

Heads whip round so quickly that muscles strain;

The beauty of the moment masks the pain

The heady scent of perfume fills the air

So subtle yet precocious an affair.

All around the room conversations cease

People stand and stare and pulse rates increase;

No ordinary person this they feel

It's hard to think that she is even real.

An angel moves among them all with grace;

Beauty and serenity is her face

Too much for mortal minds to comprehend;

A moment in time they wish would not end.

As soon as she is there and then she's gone

Unaware of all the hearts she has won.

Angels are rare.  Those who saw this one were honored by her presence.  Sometimes -- we are so involved in our own little problems -- our eyes are downcast:  then -- how can we see the ethereal beings who appear unto us?  An unusual poem that can be taken on two distinct levels.  Excellent, as ever.  --David

Sounds like a girl I once knew....and almost got. (shrugs). Nice one, Al.
