The Hardest Thing I'll Ever Do
The hardest thing I'll ever do
is say the word no to you
It felt like a lie on my lips
and in two my heart rips.

You've always taken my side
more than once you turned the tide
Ever the knight to a fault
even you can't stem this assault

Try to make you understand
some things are out of my hand
Doing what I think I should
walk away for the greater good.

integrity contemplates the truth and knows when to stand

and empathy tells us how.

Sometimes feelings spiral to a point where they are hard to control and taking a step back is the prudent thing to do. Great writing Kym.   Henry

It's really tragic and it hurts bad, when you have to say goodbye to someone whom you cared for so much....for the "greater good". Very poignant and sad, but well done, Anna. Welcome to CP.

A sensitive and succinct poem that tells of much more than its wonderful twelve lines admit.  --David

I guess I was being selfish. Seeing you go through this crap and me not being able to help, stings.

Great one. One that so many people can relate to, yet to each person will be a very specific event in  their lives which they will relate it with. Even though it's general, it feels like a personal one to me. Amazing.
