Goin' Out With A Bang
Some fool on the Fourth of July
Saw this dude for firecrackers to buy
He bought dynamite, you see
With no clue what it be
Then he lit the fuse and....goodbye!!
Author's Notes:

Now that dude got more bang for his buck!

I remmber seeing an old movie from the early thirties. The kids were throwing firecrackers all over the street. I was amazed to see that those firecrackers were about a third the size of a regular stick of dynamite....Those were they days when sparklers made a huge showerhead instead of limply fizzling.. Happy Fourth, Len...len

It is unfortunate that many do indeed do blow themselves or their hands to pieces.  In our neighborhood, the kids light fireworks all week.  The emergency rooms must be full of them.  Even in its humor, your poem reveals a hard truth.  --David
