The Composer
The composer is an artist....
his mighty pen is the brush
the notes he writes are the paints
the canvas he uses is the paper
he paints a brilliant musical mural
Spreading the melody across
the vast expanse of his canvas
the notes....the colours stand out
in perfect harmony, with his brush
strike a note within your soul
in your mind's eye, you clearly see it
gliding arpeggios, broad strokes
carry the melody along in whole notes
the chromatics, like abstract thoughts
the portrait jumps out at your ears
The brightest colours the crescendo
a feast for the eyes and for the mind
and when the painting is finished
and the whole composition is writ
you stand back, see it with your ears
Closing your eyes, take in the beauty
picturing the vibrant brush strokes
most of all, feeling it with your heart
the symphony is his Sistine Chapel
and he, the Michaelangelo of music
The composer is an artist....
and the beautiful colours of his music
will forever be displayed, with honour
in the gallery of our hearts and minds
and in the hallowed halls of Heaven

I think most people have this talent.... You just have to educate yourself..

I don't compose music but I have other talent that works well

with my creative mind of thoughts and emotions...

 Love ya! India

This is incredible.  To make the analogy between music and visual art -- and make it so eloquently -- is a feat of genius and craft.  I am a composer. This poem really touched me in the heart.  Thank you.  --David
