I cannot recall the precise moment
the road curved so sharply to the left
or why I depressed the accelerator
to the floor.

I remember the indescribable rush
of flipping end-over-end,
bolts of white light razing my skull
and how I never wanted it to stop.

I canít tell you when I found myself wrapped
in this swollen, aching skin, which is too
tight to wear and too excruciating to shed.

There must be a pivotal moment
that determines if youíll skewer the wind,
surf shadows or trip over your shoestrings,
land with your ass in the air,
awaiting someone to come along
and plant their flag.

This is wonderful work, I have to wonder if you wrote it still with flag in situ? I will be looking forward to reading more of your work.   Bill Harborne.

After such a long absence you re-surface and give us a wonderful poem with that wry humor of yours! By the way, OUCH ON WHERE THEY PLANTED THEIR FLAG!! Welcome back Jody.    Hugs,   Henry

This is magnificent.  So perceptive and full of careful thought.  A friend of ours was recently in a terrible automobile accident -- her car flipped over three times.  Amazingly, she came out of it with relatively minor injuries.  And hurt no one else.  It is a miracle.  Your poem, thus, happens to have particular significance for me.  Outstanding!  --David

Can it be? Yes, it could. Our Sorceress has once again hit the keyboard. Thank you thank you. How I miss reading you, lady. I hope it didn't actually take tumbling a over teacup to get this out of you. But, if it did, heal! So glad to see you in action. ML

Is that you?  The style might suggest it is really you... Beautiful piece, as per usual...  Gorgeously written and sweepingly intensive.
