From King Dennis To King Richard

Once upon a time, so every story goes

a poet named Dennis, skillful with prose

thought to create a kingdom of balladeers

one to be heralded down through the years.

With computer, keyboard, paper and ink

creativity set, establishing his grand link

proclamations were sent throughout the land

a search for troubadours is what he planned.

Slowly, to he and his kingdom they flocked

as the numbers swelled Dennis was shocked

the bards then crowned Dennis their king

pledging fealty they knelt and kissed his ring.

For a time peace reigned throughout the land

gradually things began to get out of hand

a knight named Rich offered assistance

to help the king quell the "Poetic Resistance”.

With Rich though, some writers thought to side

and in two the kingdom they did divide

soon battles raged all through the domain

on both of these men it caused great strain.

What to do with two kings and only one throne

when both were men of honor it was shown

they understood that one must acquiesce

in order for the kingdom to again coalesce.

So King Dennis abdicated his royalty

and granted to King Rich his loyalty

harmony once again reigned supreme

well maintained in King Rich’s regime.

Author's Notes:
Some of you here don't know that Dennis K O'Gorman Jr founded this site. For awhile battle poems raged and then Rich bought the site. So it is that to these two men we all owe thanks for C-P. Thanks guys for giving us a place to write!

Terrific piece of writing, as always! For some of us, this site became our phycologist, our parent and another home for us to open up, vent and ask for help........

This is interesting. Not the way I recall it but I'm still grateful to them both. Happy to say I completely missed the side-taking aspect. ML

Thanks for giving us such a story-book-like picture of the true story of the genesis of this real family.  We are indeed lucky to be blessed by these two benevolent and wise kings.  Where -- on earth -- or online -- would we be without these pioneers!  A model poem, Kym -- one that is very special indeed.  It could almost be a book -- with illustrations!  Love, David
