Knight of Rusted Armor
In her Night Dream...

She slowly opened the huge carved
weathered door to another era
 in time ..Medieval England

A time of jousting between knights
a time of lords ...elegant ladies and
very powerful ruling kings

A place of high towered stone walls
Castles with water filled moats
and wooden draw bridges
~*~

 Suddenly she found herself setting
 in the thundering huge arena
of jousting knight

Hundreds of cheering happy people
gathered for this tournament
of fightning skill and courage

The unknown knight sat very proud
on his white powerful running steed
with his now rusty plate of armor

He had fought many battles
through the endless years

A lady's scarf around his neck
 the color silken copper yellow

A courtier with flag in hand stands
in -between the two knights as
he lowers the flag both horses
rear up pawing the naked air
this hot summer day

Both men snapped shut their viser's
of their metal helments as both
nervous horses lunged forward ...

In days of old when knights were bold, except in real life it was most likely an awful period in history rife with bloody battles and disease running rampant across continents, maidens were more often as not violated rather the rescued but we prefer the fairy tale image and tales of Sir Galahad and King Arthur and who wouldn't yours my dear gives off wonderful images of courage and chivalry well done Milady~Graham.

And ????   And ????   What happened?   Who won?  Did they leave the crowd wanting?  This is another great poem.  Look at the emotions.  I could feel the smell of battle, the fire in the horses' breath, the roar of the crowd.  Oh for the want of the lost days of knighthood chivelry.

Love it

Gene
