Child In The Mud

Child In The Mud

I see a child lay in the mud

The soil is red from infant blood;

The begging eyes and outstretched hand

Makes now its case a deep demand;

The air resounds with rifle burst

This ancient land at present cursed;

By guns and rockets in the sand

The innocents don't understand;

No school for them just constant strife

Attend they now a course in life

Beneath the red and angry sun

Each loving daughter mother's son...

...screams out frustration justice calls

For hearing now this war appalls

See now the hand pick up a gun

And stroke its length it does not shun

Its weight at all just points and shoots

And thus the violence lays down roots;

Within the youth of desert land

For them no out just now a brand

Which takes their minds and genders hate

They catch on quick don't hesitate;

I see a child lay in the mud

And somewhere else now stained with blood

The hands of former innocent

Who's taken life with sad intent.

Certain people care not who they hurt or kill only that they kill or hurt someone.   A good and very sad write.   Katie

There is no justification for such war on innocent children.  You write for the right reasons.  --David

You have painted such a clear and distrubing picture of the war torn countries in the east.

My heart breaks for the children. Your poem is timely and so relevant.

Linda
