A Lonely Landscape

A Lonely Landscape

Through soft gossamer threads of dawn

Arrives the sun the day is born

Resplendent skies with clouds of white

Are framed and bathed with wondrous light;

Below the fields a verdant green

The white stone walls dissect the scene;

A blackened stump an ancient tree

Plays host to crows that circle free;

And there I stand a lonely man

In search of hope a decent plan;

Deserted by my love of old

Our mad affair now dormant cold

Surrounded by such beauty here

I feel a lift a moment's cheer

And then a smile how could I not

Amidst such peace this perfect spot;

Ironically I shake my head

No longer burdened down with dread;

I make my way across the moor

Now positive unlike before.

Tell me where the moor is and i will follow in your footsteps....

I truly love this descriptive-inspiring-poem that you have written..... It gripped me from the first word and inspired me with the last.

Although we don't have moors here, I know what they are, and I understand their symbolism.  A fine fine poem as always.  --David

Al, this is what life is all about my friend. This is what we all do. We cross the moors. Sometimes we stock somewhere in the middle, and then push ourselves out of it forward, again and again. The point is what you've ended your skilful write here with. "Now positive - unlike before" ... Keep it going just like that, and don't deny us from your simply brilliant talent Al, take care, ~Dean

Beautifully descriptive in both the visuals and the feelings.

I love that the mood lifts toward the end.

I always look forward to your post. Your poems are my cup of tea.
