Of Zeus, Poseidon, and Yo
behold the twelve Olympians
within their ranks they share one soul
they poison children with insidious desires
of solitude and foreboding
fasting not
for the glory of the gods

Zeus and Hera
plumb the depths of beastial depravity
believing they know
the human lust for conflict

conflict rages
in the souls of butterflies.
yet they shun the sin of violence
on all peoples
and every living thing
which creepeth upon the earth

creatures of inner beauty
laugh at the bitter emptiness
of our philosophies
as well they should

treacherous beginnings
to a love affair
breed all manner
of insidious ineptitudes of caring

for what are we
but the extensions of the infinite?
that ever barren
pregnant void of creation

Zeus was weak
in the hour of his greatest need
he saw the patterns
of his own beginnings
a vision which tormented him
without relent

knowing not
if the sting of the butterfly
held more power
than the reasonings of great men

beware the scholars
and monkey trainers

Zeus had not the answers
behind the meaning
of the butterfly sting
nor the inner thoughts and dreams
of the night flier

the moth hath borne witness
to transformations undreamed of
in the minds of mortal men

does it imply original sin?
does it beg the questions
of salvation and forgiveness?

Hera and Poseidon
stand among mortals
unable to master
the spirit of the Yo

they lay waste the land of Yo
in hopes it would not vex them so

Ares and Hermes
found the love of men wanting

in unholy sin
did they fornicate
with all manner of fruit
and wooden abominations
reviled by the gods

with selfish hearts
did they covet
the endless night denied to them

the mighty Zeus
is slave to mortal thoughts
seeking coucil of dung beetles
harvesters of ancient Egyptian spirit

scabbarding about
to the glory of Poseidon's failures

why hath Artemus and Athena
conspired to kill the first born child
of tomorrow's forgotten memories?

it is a treacherous road
Artemus has chosen
to be blinded in every way
so that he might see
the endless realm of nothingness
where lost souls abide
without the aid of flashlights

Aphrodite wept at the revelations
her burden was the knowledge
the child king hath smote
the holy oracle of folly

yet the spirit of Yo lives
 within the Imperial soul
within the relm of Duncan

the road to enlightenment is found
in the humble act
of walking the dog

the road to peace resides
in the cradle of the cat

her soul was laid bare
on the alter of the spinning orb
she begs the rocks
to tumble down upon her
seeking her relief
from the pitiless karma
of Visa

the holy twine of Yo
transports her soul
around the world
then 'round and 'round again
into infinity itself

for such is the power
of the spirit of Yo

Just as I was ready to come out this drives me snivling back. I know now that I'll never be brilliant enough. I will remain forever alone in this pregnant void with only these danged things creeping on the earth and one conflicted butterfly seeking vainly the spirit of Yo.

I have to admit that there are parts of this I didn't understand but that did not

stop me from enjoying the read.

LEN!  I am so deep that this made total sense to me.  The key is in the line:

beware the scholars

and monkey trainers

The purity and extra-sensory perception reveal your affiliation with bananas and their philosophical commerce.  Beheaded with Communist humility, I am swept by your plum gesture.  And of course, monkeyed as can be, given Hera's hearing-aid.  I bake you from the essence of my circumference and residual coil.  This, sir, is a metaphor for the igneous yesterdays of Of.

Sincerely and also sincerely,

Dave
