This used to
This used to be our playground
Loaded with encouragement
Where writing did abound

This was a place to be
Where challenges were made
For you and me

This used to be a place to go
Where words did inspire
And friendships did grow

This used to be a place
For you and me
Now it's in a state of apathy

Pick up you pens once more
Let creativity flow
Before indifference closes the door

Author's Notes:
What has happened here is a shame, we all used to encourage one another and there was always support, It would be really great to see that here again, so please write, create, comment and encourage because it helps us all to become better at our craft.

It saddens me greatly to see the decline here. Perhaps many of the writers are taking a break from writing or are delving into other interests. Sadly, death has taken a number of our writing friends too. I know the reason(s) for losing interest are different for everyone. You posted this July 5 of last year and things are still as they were, if not worse. I visit & read/comment but even then, few will bother to respond to the comments left. It isn't like before when the writers were grateful for input and instruction and always sent a note in response to the comment you left for them. Soon a person gets tired of trying and doesn't bother anymore. It is a different mix of members here now, not saying that is a bad thing, however if members don't interact as a writing community the community as a whole will suffer. We are all here for the same reason, that being to have an audience for our creative efforts and get feedback or acknowledgement for our efforts. So many have poured out their hearts over the years and been helped by the advice in comments or by the friendships developed here. That connectivity has been lost. It is very lonely here now...especially after being here through every day of growth and experiencing the "BOOM". I've been here from the site's earliest beginning as an active participant & contributor, aiding in each developmental stage the site experienced up to the sale of the site. This was HOME then. It has the cold atmosphere of a structure now, a deserted empty nest. :(

Henry, sometime people "lose that loving feeling". I hit a wall in my writing and I stuck around for a while but I just felt inadequate!  I've also got busy!  Now in bed with pneumonia so I've been reflecting more!  Writing a little!  So I feel like I belong again! Keep writing and they will come!

Well said Henry.

I haven't been on in what feels like ages.

We poets spend most of our time writing about how naf our lives are, then when things turn around, we seam to forget the very people who were there for us...I've been guilty of that which is why I'm making the effort to get back on here more!!!

Cracking write big man.

There has never been a poetry site as good as this one, Henry. I hope it gets a little fire in the belly soon....len

'Everyday life' has a way of draining inspiration away leaving only apathy, discontent, and selfishness...

*sigh*  Yes indeed.  So many of the active poets have left.  The draw for inspiration, constructive feedback, and creative interaction has waned and it is not for lack of trying.  This used to be my sanctuary.  Nice work Henry.  ~Pamela

have we gotten so busy that we have almost forgotten this site...but more specifically, our friends? You are right this was such an encouraging place and has helped so many get back on their feet emotionally thru the creative path of poetry. The support and friendship have been exceptional! But as the friends leave what else is left? This site is nothing without each of the friends...and their own style of writing. Thanks for this...I miss you and all the others.

Linda

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! Good job, Hank, maybe it will sink in, otherwise, it may just sink....

So right, Henry. We seem to've let the fire go out. I'm as guilty as the rest. Maybe we can shake things up a bit. Thanks for trying. ML
