Then Come The Tears
Then Come The Tears You walk through stones protecting those -- Who lay at rest in sweet repose; Attention fixed upon the spot -- Her resting place -- a shady plot; You make your way past Willow trees -- Upon your face a soothing breeze -- Thence to the grave you kneel in prayer -- A chill now present in the air; Upon the ground you lay the rose -- Surprised as now a cold wind blows -- Then from the earth arose a hand -- A crack of thunder -- booming -- grand -- Now punctuates this spectral scene -- You blink and search the rose unseen; The ground now flat and undisturbed -- A situation strange -- absurd -- Then all at once the wind abates -- The sun appears which designates The welcome of a brand new day -- No sound of thunder -- clouds of grey; You glance again the verdant grass -- A miracle now come to pass -- A hundred roses standing proud -- You take a breath and gasp aloud; Then to your lips a smile appears -- She lives on still -- then come the tears.
